Our program is designed not only to help students afford college, but to guide them through it — with compassion, care, and community.

ELIGIBILITY

To qualify for the LBP Because She Cares Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a graduating high school senior;

  • Reside in the Greater Houston Area;

  • Be a United States citizen;

  • Demonstrate financial need;

  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher;

  • Show a commitment to academic growth;

  • Demonstrate leadership, service to the community, care for others and resilience in their personal life;

  • Plan to attend a 2-year or 4-year accredited college, university, or vocational program within the United States;

  • Submit a complete application by the deadline

  • Have not accrued more than 25% of credits needed to graduate from college. 

APPLICATION COMPONENTS

Your online LBP Scholarship application will include:

  • Student Information

    • Basic contact and school details.

  • Unofficial Transcript

    • Most recent high school transcript.

  • College or Career Plans

    • Intended major, schools, or vocational goals.

  • Activities & Service

    • Extracurriculars, volunteer work, or employment.

  • Household & Financial Summary used to understand financial need:

    • Number of people in your household

    • Parent/guardian occupations

    • Estimated household income range

    • Any special financial circumstances
      (medical bills, job loss, single-parent home, housing issues, etc.)

  • One Recommendation Letter

    • From a teacher, counselor, employer, or community leader.

  • Three Short-Answer Essays (250–400 words each)
    Prompts below:

Essay topics may include:

  • Compassion in Action - Describe a time you helped or supported someone. What did you learn from the experience?

  • Resilience - Share a challenge you faced and how you overcame it. How has it shaped who you are?

  • Community & Service -Explain how you’ve contributed to your school, family, or community and why it matters to you.

We want to hear you — your story, your words, your voice. All responses must be written personally by you without the use of automated writing tools. Applications will be disqualified if they show signs of being generated or assisted by such tools.
